AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution used in modern tractors with SCR catalytic converters (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for exhaust gas aftertreatment. The technology reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90 percent and has been fitted to many standard tractors since the introduction of emission stage IV (Tier 4). AdBlue consumption typically amounts to approximately 3 to 5 percent of diesel consumption. When purchasing a used tractor with AdBlue on Landwirt.com, there are several points to consider. Use the property filter to specifically find models with SCR technology. An important aspect with used machines is the condition of the AdBlue system: check the SCR catalytic converter, the injection nozzle and the AdBlue tank for proper function. Blocked or defective components can result in expensive repairs. At the same time, tractors with AdBlue often benefit from lower diesel consumption as the engines operate more efficiently. Tractors with cab suspension and modern exhaust systems offer the highest comfort and environmental standards for daily use.
When the AdBlue tank is empty, most tractors will progressively reduce engine power. Modern machines first display a warning before throttling power to approximately 60 percent or preventing a restart when the tank is completely empty. It is therefore important to regularly check the AdBlue level and refill in time. AdBlue is available at many fuel stations and agricultural supply stores.
