Your area of responsibility

Here is some information about the farm: Farm operations: dairy farming, beef cattle feedlot, hog feedlot, forage and crop production, forestry. The farm comprises approximately 23 hectares of land. In 2011, we built a free-stall barn and expanded it slightly in 2021, so that we can now house 44 cows there. The old barn houses the larger cattle for fattening, the calving pens, the dry cows, and other cattle. The small calves are kept in the barn attached to the farmhouse and in igloos. Tasks would include caring for the calves (feeding, mucking out), helping to feed the larger animals, possibly assisting with milking, and cleaning the milking parlor. Field work: making silage, haying, fencing; in the fall, harvesting fruit; and later, forestry work and preparing firewood. Work begins at 7:00 a.m., breakfast around 8:00 a.m., work in the barn, a mid-morning snack break, more work, lunch at 12:00 p.m., a lunch break lasting until 1:30 or 2:00 p.m. depending on the workload, work, dinner around 4:30 p.m., barn work until 7:00 or 7:30 p.m., a light snack (e.g., yogurt...) after work is done. It’d be great if you could stop by sometime. That way, you can get to know the farm and us. I look forward to hearing from you.
